McGregor Mayweather venue – 5 of the T-Mobile Arena’s finest moments

We are just days away from the biggest fight in the history of combat sports. Conor McGregor’s quest to become the Mohammed Ali of this generation may be realised, as he takes on Floyd Mayweather at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It well and truly is a fight for an ages and something that none of us have ever witnessed the likes of before. It’s set to be a spectacle to beat all spectacles and where better to have it in the City of Lights in Nevada in an awesome amphitheatre.

The venue for Conor McGregor v Floyd Mayweather is no stranger to big bouts and thunderous spectacles. It has had them before and it will surely have them again. Here are just a few of its finest moments up to this point:

July 2017 UFC 213: Romero vs. Whittaker
The venue is fresh from the fight game, with the interm-title bout between Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker taking place there just a few short months ago. Whittaker came out on top in that bout and is now waiting to see whether it is GSP or Michael Bisping he will be facing for the unification fight.
The T-Mobile Arena has tima and time again proven that it can hold massive fights and if this event is anything to judge on, it will be another epic night when Mayweather takes on McGregor.

UFC 200: Tate vs. Nunes
The card that Conor McGregor was originally supposed to fight on. However, prior to UFC 200 McGregor had a falling out with the UFC. This is when he sent his famous ‘retirement’ tweet. There seemed to be trouble in paradise, although that is all a distant memory at this point.
The night went on, with Amanda Nunes claiming the main event. That being said, it wasn’t nearly as good of an event as it would have been if McGregor stepped into the octagon.

April 6, 2016 – The Killers
The official opening of the arena saw The Killers play. How fitting that on the biggest night in the arenas history, two more killers will step into the ring. Coincidentally, The Killers have actually penned a song relating to McGregor v Mayweather.

May 2017 Canelo Álvarez vs. Julio César Chávez Jr
It’s not just massive MMA bouts that the T-Mobile has held. It has also saw some of boxings’ supremos step beyond its door for excellent bouts. The most recent of these took place this year, when Canelo took on Chavez Jr.

August 2016 UFC 202: Diaz vs. McGregor 2
‘The King is back’ is what McGregor exclaimed after this epic bout and victory. Well, after he returns to the venue, he may well be shouting it again. When the fight venue for McGregor Mayweather was announced, this was the moment most fight fans recalled.
